Swimming

Swimming is an art of self-support or self-movement, by means of hands and feet, in or on the water, generally practiced as a sport or means of recreation. Several good expert (1994) define swimming as a wonderful art of moving through water. It is to propel oneself in water by the use of arms and legs; to float in a liquid; or to do a smooth gliding motion in water. It is action or activity of making progress unsupported through water using the arm and legs usually for pleasure, exercise or sport. Swimming, boating, fishing, and other water sports are among the most popular forms of recreation. A swimming area should be free of obstacles and the water should be clean and clear. It is dangerous to swim in an unprotected ocean, river, or lake. Whether a beginner or an experienced swimmer, a knowledge of survival bobbing can help in surviving an accident or other difficulties in the water. Survival bobbing enables you to float a long time on your body. Only trained lifeguards should attempt a swimming rescue. Swim only in areas protected by lifeguards. Many lifeguards are needed and trained every year to guard pools, camps, and waterfronts.
